Founded circa 1124 by Henry I, the Augustinian Priory of St Denys stood as a testament to medieval religious life in Southampton. Located in what is now known as the St Denys district near Priory Road, this historic site played a significant role in the area's religious and cultural development.

Surviving Fragments

Priory Wall with Arch

Priory Avenue Arch

A section of wall with an arch survives at No. 2 Priory Avenue. This Grade II listed structure stands as one of the few remaining pieces of the original priory.

Tudor House Garden Arch

Tudor House Garden Arch

Another arch, removed in 1913, was carefully preserved and re-erected in Tudor House Garden, where it remains today as a Grade II listed structure.

The remains can be found near Priory Road in the St Denys district of Southampton.

Access

The surviving arch at No. 2 Priory Avenue can be viewed from the street. The relocated arch can be seen at Tudor House Garden.
